Pop to Buy

As ya'll know, I'm not a fan of featuring artists that are well known, unless they are releasing a new album. That is literally, the one reason I didn't feature Queen of Hearts. I thought, "well, everyone knows her, her EP has been out for a while". Wrong (sadly). She doesn't have very many songs up on youtube, but luckily one of those is Shoot the Bullet. It has under 13,000 views, and it was only when I saw that and that she doesn't have a Wikipedia page that I realized that Queen of Hearts must be publicized. So here she is guys! She has one EP on US iTunes, The Arrival, and it's only 5 bucks. Worth the money!

Yes, he has pink hair. Yes, he has loads of mascara and eyeliner. That's Jeffree Star! His next album, Prom Night is coming out this spring and I am SO excited. The first single is, predictably, Prom Night and I love it, which hints to the amazing stuff coming up when that album is released. It's incredibly dancy and poppy, and sounds like something you would play at prom. (What a coincidence...) I'm so excited guys!

Unheard-of Pop

I'm definitely going to say something about Aubrey O' Day closer to when her debut solo album comes out later this year, but until then, I realized that there are quite a few people who don't know about her solo work from Danity Kane, unless you are a music researcher or a lover of that band. But to everyone else, surprise! Her sound is pretty similar to Danity Kane's, and a particularly cool song of her's that reminds me a little bit of Myah Marie is Automatic (not Automatik by Livvi Franc). Aubrey's pretty cool, tough some people will have to listen to her songs a few times to gain a taste for them.

I'm not quite sure whether I should present Lena Katina. On one hand, not many people have heard of her. On the other, it's completely unclear about whether a label will sign her. I'll just present her here, and we'll see if she's a hit or a miss. Irritatingly enough, the first video on Youtube is only available to those over age 18, sorry under-18s. But another song of hers that I like equally is Stay. I definitely like those pop songs that are slow, but not so slow as to count as a ballad, but are still pop-py and interesting as well as sweet. Lena definitely embodies that style. You have to want to listen to that style of music at the moment to listen to her, but it's very sweet and a good balance.

First Success

I feel so bad for not posting for two weeks! Of course, I was away with no internet connection...anyway, here's a deluxe post!

First. As a girl living in the U.S., often I have no chance to listen to great UK artists besides Youtube. Personally I think we should have a petition that all artists released in Europe are released in America as well, because I am pitying myself and other people sick of listening to the same seven songs on every single radio station. Sooo (I am getting to my point) when, in Israel with my school, Hot Right Now by DJ Fresh Ft. Rita Ora played over the speakers at H&M and I FREAKED. In a good way. I actually started dancing on the spot and didn't even stop when my friend gave me a death glare, I was that happy! Anyone reading from the UK won't care, but since that song isn't known here at all, that was cool.

So. I try to make it a point to feature artists not known in the US. But now I have to stray. Because the truth is, Karmin is known here. There are millions of views on each of their videos, not all from America, but still. Yet, when Teen Vogue wrote about them, I knew I had to feature them. Teen Vogue only features artists shooting up, who always get the #1 spot. They featured Ellie Goulding, Christina Perri, Greyson Chance, fun., and Dev and WAY more a few months before that artist shot to fame. So while I have the chance when they aren't playing across the nation, I'll post about them. Their voices are naturally good, which is AWESOME and they know their vocal limits as well. Crash Your Party is a great song, and I honestly can't decide between it and Brokenhearted. The thing is, although they have been on the radio, when I type "Karmin" into billboards website, there is absolutely no record of them as an artist. Also: their next album comes out on my friend's birthday, April 24th this year, called Hello. Cheers!

You know that frustrating time when this great artist is in between albums, or just released a promo single? Yeah, I got that. So here I give you Megan Nicole, with her single B-e-a-utiful. This girl has a super strong voice, and if you listen to her covers, especially when she does Who Says with Tiffany Alvord, one can't help but be impressed.

The same thing with Megan and Liz. I loved Princess Charming so much, and this period of having just an EP is frustrating. Well, if you didn't hear of these two, go ahead and listen.

RedLight - Get Out Of My Head
Natalia Kills - Broke (Version1)

Coming Up Pop

Just so you all know, I'm going to be gone for two weeks on a school trip, so I won't be posting then, but I'll collect artists for you guys!

As far as my music discovery goes, I've had one problem - not all of them are available in the US. This isn't so bad, as if I wanted to buy every song I liked I would need an unlimited wallet, but that means I can't listen to them on Spotify. Therefore, I'm only able to listen to them on Youtube, maybe Soundcloud. So I'm making a goal that for every artist I post about not available in the US, I have to do to who are. Cool?

So for my first artist not released in the US for my new resolution is Christopher. Not Christopher Columbus or Christopher Robin, just Christopher. His single Nothing In Common, released this year, is at the top of the Danish charts, and for a good reason. It's somehow both pop and easy listening in one go, and is really cute. In the music video somehow he just looks at the camera, which I don't get, but the music is so sing-a-ble and cute.

My second is an artist for the U.S. I know ya'll have heard of Aly and AJ, so you've probably heard of their new name together now, 78Violet. It's all more rock-like than their Aly and AJ stuff, but I like it! Anyways, the point is that they have an album coming out this year, 2012! I don't know exactly when, but I'm so excited for it and will notify you.
